It is possible that enlarged lymph nodes are due to mononucleosis. I had huge lymph nodes in my neck which turned out to be mononucleosis. An easy blood test will determine if it is mononucleosis (your doctor would probably order it if you asked). If it is mononucleosis your lymph nodes may stay swollen for up to a year.

Yes, in mononucleosis the cervical (neck) and/or axillary lymph nodes are often swollen and painful. Other symptoms are fatigue, fever, muscle aches, and sore throat. Swollen lymph nodes can also be indicative of other diseases. Consult a physician if your swollen lymph nodes are in a region other than the neck or armpit or a mono is a unconfirmed diagnosis.

Yes it is very possiable and likely that your lymph nodes are swollen due to mono. This is your body's way of trying to fight off the infection.
