Is it okay to keep a dog in a crate all day?

No. That is frankly too long for a dog to hold it. If you have a job that won't allow you to be with your dog you should reconsider having one. After a while your dog will get agitated and will be upset that you left him so long. If you can have someone let him out mid day.

Make sure you leave your dog with water, and possibly a toy or a favorite blanket. If you make sure to walk her before and after, and minimize the time she spends in it otherwise, this should be safe. Some dogs even find a crate comforting.

Of course it is, its you're life after all. Often we find ourselves letting our dogs take "control" over certain aspects of our lives. In any situation you need to find balance. The dog will be fine, if it gets in a good healthy walk afterwords.

It depends on how old the dog is and long he can go without peeing. If the dog is under a year that is way too long, it can't hold its bladder that long.

It is okay if this happens occasionally, but it is somewhat better if you can find someone to let the dog out for an hour or so during the day. This is especially important for puppies that are still not fully potty trained. It might be better to leave him in a dog proof room during the day.

No it isn't ok to keep the dog in a crate all day. You need to let the dog run around and be able to be comfortable.
