Strangely, I always get hives right after being sick. Not always a fever, but always after any sort of illness where my immune system has been working hard. They center around my lymph areas. They're itchy, but they usually resolve w/in a day or two.

Hives are usually an allergic reaction. It's not common to have hives after a fever, though some people do. Call your doctor and ask if you should make an appointment.

It is very tricky to determine any one cause of hives because there can be so many triggers. Temperature changes through fever, drug reactions or stress could certainly cause them.

I just took my 12 year-old to the pedi after developing hives following a 104 fever. Pedi said it is normal for some children to develop post fever hives. We are treating with antihistamines and topical creams. Were told they could come/go for a couple of weeks.

I have never had hives after a fever nor known any person to have hives after a fever. With my personal experience I would say that it is not normal to have hives after experiencing a fever or while having a fever. Unless the fever is related to allergies I don't believer that it would be normal at all.

actually, per my pediatrician, it is NOT uncommon to have hives after a fever. The hives are a result of the fever/viril infection  add a comment

No, this is not normal. You are either having an allergic reaction after being sick OR you have a herpes simplex related virus (such as chicken pox or measles). See a doctor.

People should make comments as if they are a medical professional.
