Is it common to have swollen ankles after a vein valves treatment?

I think that you are confusing your terminology. Veins do not have valves, arteries do. You probably had a mitral or bicuspid valve repair and/or replacement. If that is so you are probably on a diuertic to keep your blood volume down. This can cause swollen ankles as your heart will have to pump harder to keep the blood moving.

Some swelling after any kind of procedure is fairly normal. However, if your ankles are still swollen after a day or two, it may be that the treatment was unsuccessful. You should return to your doctor and make sure that everything is normal. You might need another procedure to correct any problems.

Yes, your ankles should be swollen for atleast two weeks, beacuse of too much fluids going through the vein. so its common.
