Is it better to do vertical or horizontal wall stripes in a small room?

Whether vertical or horizontal stripes look better depends on the proportions of the room as well as what you are trying to achieve. Vertical stripes tend to make walls look taller, horizontal ones wider. Consider that all over strong stripes in a small room could be overwhelming.

For a small room the best way I that I can think of would be to use Vertical stripes to make the eyes go up & down to make an appearance of a larger, taller room. Also you should maybe add mirrors to make the room appear even more larger.

Vertical stripes are the way to go with a smaller room. It will draw the eye upwards and make the room appear taller. But if the room is very small, try a light color on 3 of the walls and only one accent wall with vertical stripes.

In a small room you want the stripes to go around the room which will make the room look wider and bigger. Also adding a mirror to the room will make it look bigger. The stripes should go around the middle of the wall not the top or bottom to make it look wider.
