It could be. If your dog becomes dehydrated or severely impacted, hospitalisation might be necessary. Take him/her to the vet for a checkup.

Not always. My dog onve had severe constipation becaues he ate a brick of cheddar cheese. We gave him some beef broth in his food and he got better.

If this has occurred for a couple of days or more you should take your dog to the vet. Severe constipation can indicate a digestive or parasite issue requiring attention.

Your dog has probably eaten something he should not have such as an object of some kind, it could kill him if it does not pass.
