If your platelet count is a little high, it's not a bid deal. If it's really high, it could be a risk factor for a thrombotic event, also known as blood clotting inside your body. I would get it checked out if it's really high, a consistently high count may also be caused by cancer.

yes it is dangerous to have increase in platelet count as this will cause faster coagulation of blood with will cause clots, which can go settle anywhere in the system which is certainly fatal. anti coagulating drugs would be prescribed for this in particular, to ensure the no abnormal things happen

High blood platelets are either reactive or essential. Reactive means it is a reaction to infection, anemia, or cancer. There could be no real symptoms with reactive. Essential indicates an imbalance. This imbalance can have symptoms of nosebleeds, bruising or blood clots in the arms and legs. Both should be discussed with your doctor.

Under most circumstances, a high platelet count will not cause any health problems. If the platelet count rises to greater than 1,000,000, you may be at increased risk of developing blood clots. In this case, you should consult your doctor who may want to start you on aspirin.
