Cortisone therapy is a good therapy for pain in isolated joints. If your leg pain is related to your hip, knee, or ankle joints, then you should consider an injection.

My understadning is that cortisone is used to treat severe pain and the shots themselves are painful as well. I did have a friend of mine mention that cortisone could have detramental affects on the liver as well. As stated above the cortison will get rid of the pain but keep in mind that the underlying problem will remain.

Unfortunately, your question is way too vague to give any kind of meaningful response. "Leg injury" can mean almost anything. Cortisone treatment in general is highly effective in reducing pain and swelling around mechanical damage because it suppresses the immune system. This, of course, can lead to unintended side-effects so it is prescribed on a case-by-case basis.

Cortisone therapy can be good for a leg injury if there is swelling involved, which there often is. Steroids like cortisone are great for decreasing inflammation.

Cortisone shots are used to treat knee injuries. Cortisone has been used to treat a weak achilles tendon, but it can allow the the achilles to be over stretched or strained without feeling it. Time Release cortisone can be injected into the hip joint to reduce inflammation, therefore relieving pain.

You would need to talk to your doctor about it, the doctor would know what to do. How to go about it too.
