Building a deck is complicated if you have a large deck or a "wrapping deck," otherwise if you're a do-it-yourselfer, following some simple instructions should be fairly easy for you. There are many books and online resources that have free blueprints for your use. They will instruct as to supplies needed and best type of lumber.

You will need to have established skills in carpentry if you are going to build your own deck. The hardword store can print out a list of the materials you will need ( lumber, screws, brackets, etc ) and even give you a basic outline of how deck should look.
