Bacteria is a special kind of free-moving single-cell organism which lives independently or in colonies. It is different from other cells in that it has no central nucleus.

Yes. Bacteria are single cell organisms. They show all signs of life: they multiply (some as fast as every 20 min), they have their own metabolism, so they take things such as sugar, fats or protein, some more exotic stuff like sulfur or iron and extract the energy from it to live and grow. They contain genetic material (DNA).
