Big companies have their bookkeeping done by professional accountants, they do their auditing. The government also sends their auditors to check tax payments. In small firms it's part of accounting.

There are professional auditors. However, most auditors are financial professionals, often Certified Public Accountants or accountants with further training in auditing. There are also auditors who have Masters of Business degrees and business undergraduate degrees. Auditors look for evidence of wrongdoing or to ensure that proper accounting and material management practices are followed.

Business auditing is a function of an Accountant. It is a very important and detailed skill and therefore is a large part of the CPA exam. Precision and focus on detail is a ust in a good auditorer
