Athens is a small town in SE Ohio. It exists for Ohio University, and is the county seat. The population is about 65,000 during the academic year. About 77% of that is students. It is a charming, quiet, fun town. I spent 14 years there.
It is a relatively large city with a population, at last count, of about 21,909. It is the largest city in Athens County Ohio.About 66% of the population is 18-24 years old.
It's not a huge city, but it's bigger than the city that I live in! About 22,000 people live in Athens, the home of Ohio University, so compared to Columbus, Ohio, with 754,885 people, it's pretty small.
Athens, Ohio is a very beautiful college town. There are a ton of things to do in Athens, many different places to eat, movie theaters and plenty of places to go out at night. Since it is a college town, there are plenty of sporting events to attend as well.
