No, they are different. An orthopedist is a medical doctor (MD) who has specialized in bones, joints and movement. A chiropractor is not a medical doctor, but attended a chiropractic college.

These are not exactly the same. Orthopedists have medical degrees, and may work in a hospital setting or in a private office or clinic. They utilize physical therapy, drugs and surgery to correct bone problems. Chiropractors have a D. C. (Doctor of Chiropractic) degree, and they primarily utilize bone manipulation to correct bone and joint problems.

A chiropractor is basically a doctor who specializes in abnormalities of the spinal column that relate to posture. An orthopedist is a doctor who works with any and all bone problems. An orthopedist can fix a broken leg and a chiropractor cannot. If you are suffering a broken wrist or finger, go to the orthopedist.
