It depends on how far along you are. If your baby is old enough to survive outside the womb you won't loose the baby because of leaking fluid. If you aren't full term your doctor may put you on bed rest to minimize the chances of your water breaking. They may also monitor you for infections.

If you start to feel any leakage during your pregnancy, it is wise to notify your doctor. If you are in your first or second trimester, its best to get to the hospital. If there is something wrong the sooner you seek medical help, the better. If the the leaking is causing premature labor the sooner you get help the better.

If a pregnant woman experiences any leakage she should see a doctor immediately because something is not right. The fluid is needed to keep the baby insulated and safe.

The amnionic fluid is simply like lubrication when the baby is born. It makes the delivery less uncomfortable, and it also avoids a dry birth, which is not a good thing. When you leak amniotic fluid, call your doctor, and they will call you in. You will be monitored closely for any more leakage. But you will not lose baby.
