During pregnancy, it is extrememly important for you to immediately notify your physician if you suspect that you are leaking anything. Whether the discharge or leakage is clear or bloody as this may be a sign that something is wrong.

The only way you can tell if its truly amniotic fluid is to go to the doctor and they will test it. If you are concerned about the amount of fluid you have, you may also get an ultrasound to measure the amount surrounding the baby. That can determine if you have enough fluid.

The only sure way to know if you are leaking amniotic fluid is to see your doctor. They will test the fluid by swabbing the area and performing a simple, quick test. As a general rule, if you cannot stop the flow of fluid as you can stop a stream of urine, there is a godo chance it is fluid.

You would notice that you have a watery discharge. That should alert you to visit your doctor and get it checked out.

Amniotic fluids leak usually a couple weeks before the actual due date of pregnancy. Take into account the smell of the fluid itself as it should be somewhat "sweet" smelling.

If you are have leakabe of clear yellow fliud you should consult your doctor as soon as possible and wear a pad to collect and drainage. Its hard to differentiate betweeen this and urine yourself

Amniotic Fluid is leaking if it smells sweet and it is a thin layer clear liquid. it is light in color and oily in texture and requires a lot of discharge. it is hard for you to tell if it is mucus or you are leaking amniotic fluid, call a doctor to be safe!
