The Swiffer is like a broom because it picks up dust and dirt. However, an electrical broom is MORE like a vacuum cleaner because of its design. The electrical broom acts as a vacuum by sucking in dirt, dust and pethair in the same way that a vacuum does.

The Swiffer is not an electric broom. The swiffer is a manual broom, however it contains a covering that uses static electricity to capture dust and dirt that it goes over. The static causes it to stick to the changeable pad, and not leave a pile to sweep up.
