Is a Sept. 11 commemorative coin spendable?

I have 2 of these coins and would like to spend them.

Commemorative coins are not legal tender, so you cannot spend them as cash. However, since they have a market value, you can sell or pawn them for cash.

Existing Sept 11 commemorative coins are not from the U. S. Mint, so they are not legal tender. An official commemorative coin has been proposed, but not yet authorized by Congress.

No, they are not legal tender and so no one has to accept them as payment. You can, however, possibly trade or sell them.

No. Commemorative coins are not considered currency. They are considered collector's items. You could sell the coin for the value of the precious metal in it or for the collector's value, but it won't buy you groceries at the local store.

If it's a real US (or other foreign) coin then it retains the face value of the coin no matter what was done to it.
