A heating pad can be used for some types of rehabilitation as the warmth increases the circulation of blood to an area.

Moist heating pads are becoming very popular in rehab facilities. Alot of places are getting rid of their old whirlpool baths because it's hard to get some patients in and out of them. The most heating pad is more convienent and the patient is usually able to put it on and take it off themselves.

Heat does help to stimulate muscles. Therefore, heating pads could be useful for people in rehabilition, who are trying to recondition their muscles.

It's wonderful for both muscle and join pains, especially ones that take place on either the upper or lower back. These types of health treatments are ambiguous at best, you should consult a physician before doing anything to "official" icy-hot pads are great, and fluids do as much as-the stereotype.
