Is a Greyhound bus safe?

In terms of bus travel, Greyhound is considered fairly luxurious. The buses are designed with the passengers in mind for maximum comfort. The mix of passengers who travel on Greyhound does not have the potential to be any more unsafe that the passengers on a plane. The standards are the same with regard to behavior.

I travelled on Greyhound busses and so have some friends. They are safe but you might feel uncomfortable if you are a solo female passenger so sit near the driver.

Personally they are kind of gross inside. Most that I've been in aren't too clean and there are some shady characters on the bus. However it's a good travel source.
