Yes, but you must make sure that the distance learning school is accredited. Some schools claim accreditation but it is on a different basis in comparison to other colleges. Research the particular school you are considering.

There are so many distance learning colleges out there now, I suggest checking out the courses they are offering and making sure they are relevant with your current interest or career. Also check with friends and the surrounding area. And check their creditability, but a degree from a distance learning college should be as valid as any other college.

If the college is accredited by an appropriate accreditation group, yes. Traditional colleges and universities that are adding distance learning are likely to be accredited, but you should make sure before you commit your tuition dollars. Some "for profit" colleges are okay but there are a number of scams to be aware of.

Many colleges that are "distance learning" do not have full accreditation, and you may end up with a useless degree. Many well-established colleges and universities offer distance learning, and their degrees are fully accredited. Earning a degree online from a state university will also allow you to pay in-state tuition.

Although some online colleges are valid, the credits from most will not transfer to other schools, and many employers will look down on a degree from them. Your best bet is to look into online classes offered by community colleges, which are usually cheaper and more legitimate.

As long as the distance learning college is accredited it is perfectly valid. As with any type of school, there are some that are better than others and it's important to ask around and get reviews before you invest.

Do your research on both the distance learning program(s) and courses and the college that is sponsoring them. Will these courses benefit your educational goals?
