Is a deer fence effective?

Nothing seems to work with the deer in my area.

This will depend on the species of deer. Smaller species like Roe & Muntjack will be fine with lightweight fencing. Larger species such as Fallow will require much heavier wire.

If you've tried deer fence, the most important factor with deer fences, especially White-tailed deer can jump almost eight feet high. Deer may be able to jump high. Keep in mind deer can't see well. If you have just an isolated tree or few plants to protect, put a cage around them. Train deer first, before they find your plants.

A deer fence can be very effective, but only if it is high enough and includes obstacles like angled netting and has no gaps a deer can squeeze through.

fences that stand alone are not always effective but if you put two fences parallel to each other about three feet apart and line area you want protected this seems to do the trick. If you choose to use a electrical current please be sure to use brightly colored warning markers to alert those around you.

Yes if it built right and high enough. I would research the deer in your area to find out how high they can jump before construction on the fence.

The electric fences do work to keep deer of your property, Some higher fences eight to nine feet high with metal pie paltes or aluminum strips hanging from it has a psycological effect on the deer and they do not cross it.Some deer seem to jump over everything though, the best is the electrified fences.

Some deer fences are effective, it just depends on how they are made and what kind of deer are in your area.

Deer hesitate to jump a barrier that is wide and high. Make your fence wider either with brush piles or a spaced double fence four feet apart, five feet wide and 5 feet high It will help if you slant the fence outward a bit. Keep your fence in good shape or the deer will find a way through.

Yes. Try "invisible" deer fence, it's about 7' tall. Since deer can't see it, they won't be able to tell they can jump it (deer can jump about 8').
