Question by  M (13)

In what region of the country am I most likely to locate seeds for wax begonia?

I'd like to plant these, but they're not indigenous to my area. In what area of the country would I most likely find the seeds?

They're indigenous to Central and South America, Asia, and some parts of Southern Africa. Although there are no native species in the States, they grow quite well here. In their native tropical climates, the begonia is a perennial that grows the size of a small shrub. In cooler climates, it is grown as an annual.

Wax begonia's are grown year-round in tropical or subtropical areas, and is native to Brazil. While it can be grown in cooler climates, it will only truly work as an annual. You can purchase wax begonia seeds from most nurseries or garden centers.

Begonias originate in Brazil. They are one of the most planted annuals in the American gardens. The darker the leaves, the more sun they can tolerate. Begonias produce a lot of flowers from March to October.
