In the United States, what is the difference between a Denver mint quarter and a Philadelphia mint quarter?

It refers to the mint that produced the coin. A quarter produced at the Denver Mint will have a "D" on the coin. Some, but not all, coins minted in Philadelphia bear a "P." These letters are called "mint marks" and appear on the current series of state quarters.

There is no monitary difference between a Denver or Philadelphia mint quarter. They are made in different quantities and thus present different values to collectors.

There is no major difference between either quarter, they are just made at two different mint locations. The difference can be seen on the currency though, There is a D on the face side of a Denver quarter and a P on a Philadelphia quarter.
