The burning sensation that could be going on in your lower back could be from a possible pinched nerve. The pinched nerve could cause a lot of problems from your back down to your legs. And when this happens this could cause a somewhat burning sensation in your back and legs.

If you had any injuries or falls this could be one of the causes. If you have not had any accidents then you could have a condition that affects the nerves like neuropathy, which is caused by many things like diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, vitamin deficiency, exposure to toxins. Even having MS can cause this.

If this pain is persistent over a period of weeks or months, it may indicate sciatica. It is the result of a pinched or compressed nerve in the lover back.
