The background check is extensive and rigorous. Neighbors, friends, former employers, and classmates and teachers are interviewed regarding your character and background. Credit and criminal background checks are run on all family members. Your history will be examined relative to your grades, drug use, associations and activities. The CIA has a career info page at its website.

You have to be an American citizen and over the age of 21 but under 37. You cannot have any major criminal record and have a bachelors degree.

You must be an American citizen. You cannot have a criminal record. Your family cannot have illicit foreign ties. You cannot have been a member of an organization seeking to overthrow the US government.
