Each police academy has specific requirements. Your local police force will have a web page and a recruiting section with details. Find out if you can go on some "ride alongs" with the police. This is a great way to get a fair idea of the kind of work involved.

That you are about to enter into a lifestyle, as well as a career. Police officers are on the job 24/7, 365 days a year, and you work shift work, and your days off a lot of times will be spent testifying in court. It is a rewarding career, but takes away a lot of your family/personal life.

You will need to be physically fit, because they will test that constantly. You will also need to me militarily disciplined and you will need to have a clean criminal record.
