If you ask for copies of your W2-4-I9 forms, can your job refuse?

Employers are required to send you a copy of your W-2 (wages and taxes witholding) by January 31. A W4 calculates witholding. Your employer should give you a copy. An I-9 is required from all employees. Your employer must have you fill it out before you can be hired

Your employer is required to provide you copies of your W2 form. But just because that is a legal requirement does not mean they will do it voluntarily. It may be necessary after repeated reqeusts to ask for assistance from the IRS. But do not do that lightly. That should be your last resort.
