If my debt was dismissed by a chapter 13 bankruptcy can I still sell my home?

I recently had all my debt dismissed via chapter 13 and now wish to move across the state.

While you probably won't have any problems listing your home, much depends on the terms of our bankruptcy and when it was filed. Go back to the attorney who filed your bankruptcy to get advice on the sale of your home. Relocation is not an issue, but you do want to resolve everything satisfactorily before you move.

You need to be absolutely certain that the bankruptcy is final; if you are not sure, talk to your lawyer. However, if the bankruptcy is completely final, and your debts have been discharged, you are no longer limited in your finanical transactions. Thus, you can legally sell you home, if you need to do so.

If you still own the house, hang onto it! With a bankrupcy on your record, you will not be able to get a loan for another one anytime soon.
