If I came across my teen's open diary, should I read it?

No, absolutely not. Firstly because if the situation was somehow in reverse, you wouldn't want your teen reading private things about you. Secondly, it might alter your perspective of him/her.

If i came across my teens diary, I would definately read it. Some parents may disagree, but if that is the only way to find out what is going on, because he doesnt talk to you or if you suspect something is up with him then i would go for it!
