If I add sugar to already fermented fruit, what will happen?

I want to ferment to produce a maximum amount of alcohol.

Most likely the yeast in the fermented fruit will metabolize the sugar to alcohol as well. To increase the alcohol concentration you will need to distill the fruit mash.

It will sweeten it a bit if you add it in before drinking, but it will increase the alcohol content if you let it ferment longer
