No it is not ok to leave it out for that long. It will start to heal right away. If you are set on getting it done, they sell clear, almost invisable ones you can buy. Or if you are really desperate, you can use fishing line to put through it till you get off of work.

When you first get your tongue pierced you cannot take it out for a couple of weeks or the hole will clsoe up and/or get infected. If you can wait a few weekes, then after that you should be fine leaving it out for 6 hours. Or, they make clear tongue rings to put in for this very purpose.
