It could be permanent the damage, as a nerve has been damaged that is why there is no feeling at the fingertip.

Chances are you have injured a nerve in your finger and that over time you will regain feeling in your fingertip.

If you cut a nerve, it's possible that it will remain numb. Odds are that it will regenerate and recover fully. Swelling can also cause numbness. See a doctor.
