These plants cannot tolerate cool temperatures and frost. If you have inside plant, keep at 75 degrees or above. Water regularly, as container potato plants require more watering than outside ones. Keep in sunny area and cut back if it gets too long. Cutting back makes it bushier.

You need to winterize your plant for the winter. You do this by applying mulch or hay , moving underneath a shelter, or cutting vines to replant in spring.

You can start your plant in the summer in the house. Let it root, plant it in soil and put it in a sunny window all year round. In the winter you want to watch that there is no draft from the window, if there is put in a sunny spot but not by the window.

You need to protect the plant for sure. It is difficult to have them survive the winter. Perhaps, you can place a drape over them to protect it so the plant doesn't have to bear the winter cold temperatures. Also, it will be necessary for you to pay full attention to the plant at all times.

That would depend on where you are keeping it if it is indoors it will probably survive and be fine but if you have it out side it is going to die the winter will freeze the root base of the plant out the roots do not go down below the frost line.

Sweet potato plants are semi-tropical plants. You need to dig your plant up, put it in a pot, and bring it inside if it is to survive the winter.
