Replacing the ignition switch requires a special tool to remove the switch. You can usually rent one from an auto parts store. The tool will allow you to release the switch so you can remove it. After that the only thing left is to disconnect the wires.

Remove the steering wheel first get that out of your way. You will carefully proceed with a phillips screwdriver to take apart the turn signal lever and components to gain access. You will find a clip that holds the ignition beneath in place.

Its a simple fix, that will require an expensive part as most cars nowadays have complex immobiliser systems built into the key and ignition barrel. If the ignition barrel has stopped working the best solution would be to contact the Ford main dealer and get a new barrel and matching key.

Remove the dashboard panel. Locate the audio control switch, will be under steering column which acts like remote control. Remove the steering column lower by pulling it. Using screwdriver pull out the cylinder with the key inside. Now insert the new key to the ignition switch and turn the switch in off mode. Replace the switch and place the panel covered.
