How thick should winter jackets be?

Thickness is not quite the right question -- you need to know the projected temperatures where you will be and find a coat or jacket that is rated to this degree of cold. Down and down substitutes combined with Gortex or other weatherized fabrics are not necessarily heavy or thick, but will meet your needs.

The jackets should be that much thick that u did not have to wear any thick heavy other then that jacket.Leather jackets are more comfartable in winter season.
