The first step would be to know: Never put it in the washing machine. First you could get a sink full of luke warm water with a tad of laundry soap (to elliminate the odors). Let it soak in the water maybe 5 minutes. Then take out the jacket use a damp rag to remove any spots then hang dry.

The best way to clean a leather jacket is to take it to a local dry cleaners. Leather is too expensive to risk cleaning at home.

use a soft cloth or sponge. Dont use any rough materials as this will damage the leather. dampen the cloth in water that has been mixed with a mild soap. clean the jacket being careful not to scrub. wipe with clean cloth dampened with clean water to rid of any soap residue. use dry cloth to sponge up excess water.

I would take it to a dry cleaners. I wouldn't dare try to clean it myself, for fear I would ruin it. When cleaning things like that you have to be very careful.
