It varies from state to state, but a failure to yield is grounds for a ticket (typically $150 fine or so) plus you get the notation on your driving record.
If you get pulled by a cop for it, they give you a ticket. Then you go to court and the judge orders you to pay a fine. It's not really that much, it just costs money.
