A doctor can hear your baby's heartbeat on a doppler as early as 9 weeks, however the doctors typically wait until you are a little closer to 12 weeks due to the size of the baby. If you are using a stethoscope the baby's heart it cannot be heard until around the 20th week of pregnancy.

Every pregnancy presents differently so the dates can vary person to person. Generally speaking however, the heartbeat of a gestating fetus can be heard around week 12. There are many factors that can hinder this however. Such as a miscalculation of fetal age, a front presenting placenta and maternal weight.

You can usually see the baby's heartbeat at around 7 weeks on an ultrasound. But hearing the heart with a doppler usually occurs around 10 weeks.

I think usually you can hear the heatbeat at around 12 weeks or so. Sometimes you can't listen to it until they do the ultrasound for the sex.

On an ultrasound, you can hear the baby's heartbeat very soon after it starts, sometimes as early as six weeks. Using a doppler, which is a special machine that can be placed on your belly, you can often hear the heartbeat around twelve weeks. If you are just using a stethoscope, you usually can't until 16-20 weeks.
