Although it isn't a common reaction, it is true that about 1% to 4% of people react to the chicken pox vaccine with a mild rash. If this occurs, it is still important that you refrain from being around people that may have a compromised immune system as they are susceptible to infection.

This can occur in some instances because the vaccine contains a weakened version of the virus that causes chicken pox in order to make your immune system come into contact with it and produce antibodies against it. It should not cause full blown chicken pox, and you should still have immunity from getting the vaccine.

Yes, the chicken pox vaccine is a live virus but without the capacity to reproduce and spread. Though it's can't spread and get worse it can come in contact with membranes in the body that can cause an immune response. Just like the flu vaccine can cause some to exhibit symptoms of the flu, so can the chicken pox vaccine.

Some people do get a rash as the vaccine is a live strain. It is an attenuated strain called to Oka strain. It really depends on what the rash looks like. If it looks like chicken poxs, then it may be the Oka stain. definately see you family doctor to get it checked out.

No, it is not normal to get a rash from the chicken pox vaccine, that may indicate that you had an allergic reaction to the immunization, or depending on what the rash looked like you may have already contracted the chicken pox virus and are experiencing the chicken pox, Call and ask your doctor.

All drugs have side effects. Rashes and soreness are extremely common, even expected, from shots and vaccines, at the site of injection. You should only be worried if abnormal or extreme side effects show up, such as high fever (low fever is normal, for a short time), then call your doctor.
