How serious is a lump in the armpit?

I just found one and it really hurts to touch it.

You need to go see your doctor right away. It might be nothing but it also might be an early sign of breast cancer.

Sometimes an ingrown hair can cause a lump under the armpit. These can be very painful. Other armpit lump are infected lymph nodes. Hard painful lumps under the armpit can also be cancer. Best to have a doctor check the lump.
