Pregnancy tests are 99% accurate; false positives or negatives occur 1% of tests. To avoid false readings, follow directions about when to sample, reading results, and avoiding sample contamination.

The only time a pregnancy test will show a false positive is if you are taking fertility medications. No food, activity, or other medication will cause a false positive. Many women don't "show" until 20 weeks or later.
