In mid sized car 16 ounce of transmission of fluid and also every car own manufacturer specified capacities and also in owners manual and service manual u can also use a Guss and check method by putting fluid in until the correct level of fluid is indicated on the transmission fluid dipsticks.

This depends on the year, make and model of the car. Each transmission has different requirements. For instance, a Ford Escort may take up to 8 quarts while a Ford F-150 4X4 may take as many as 16-18 quarts. It also depends on whether it is stanard or automatic too.
