Normally 6 months training will be sufficient to become a Medical Transcriptionist. But the field of MT is vast and the Transcriptionist have to be a specialist in a particular field. Because he have to be become familiar with common medical terms and drugs in that particular field.

You should complete a comprehensive training course, either at specialized school or even online. Some of the areas you'll need training are medical terminology, computer use and general terminology of the profession.

To become a good Medical Transcriptionists, 6 months of intensive training is needed .In this training we should acquire the basic skills including computer, English and medical terms. Above all comprehensive skills are needed to excel in this career. Hence an intensive training of at least 6 months period is appropriate to succeed.

To get a job in medical transcription you need to have a certificate or a degree in medical transcription. You can get some experience though by sub contracting for others on a per assignment basis.
