If you type fast and accurately, learn medical terminology on your own. How long it takes depends on you. A certificate/diploma is not required to be a transcriptionist. I know more people that have been through the training who remain unemployed than I do self-taught transcriptionists who are working.

Classes are offered, but it probably won't happen in a short amount of time. You have to be proficient with typing, and medical terminology, and be able to spot errors and mistakes in reports. If you want to start, www. pennFoster. edu and www. mountainstate. edu would be a good place to start. But it won't be as easy as you think.

There are online courses. The more intense the program, the more expensive it will be. Be sure to choose a program that offers a high percentage of placement of graduates.

There are many transcription company out there that you can take online courses from. But medical transcription is not easy as you may think it takes at least 1 year to complete a course. To find the best site is to go WAHM message boards and you can get all the info there.
