It really depends on how well you know the bride and/or groom. If you have not given a gift, and are a family member you may give more than a person who has, say only a working relationship with the bride or groom. There is no set amount, do what you feel is right and give what you can afford.

It is generally believed that as a minimum you should attempt to cover the cost of your attending. Some people call this covering your plate. On average plates are a minimum of $25 and the cost goes up from there. For a couple to attend fifty dollars is a good starting point.

The amount given at a wedding would depend on the relationship you have with the people getting married. It is appropriate to give the amount you would have spent on a gift. If you are not sure, it is always better to err on the side of generosity.

wedding is a happy day and special moment, first of all i think that a gift has to be special and useful for the new bridegroom. second of all it should be about fifty dollars or more,not less, it depends on the person you are gifting. because for a sister or a brother i can do more than fifty dollars.
