I need a short phrase or way of telling people that I prefer cash gifts for my daughter's sweet sixteen. Suggestions?

There is no way you can make such a statement without looking like an inconsiderate person that is soliciting funds for her daughter's sixteenth birthday. If however, family or close friends ASK you what your daughter would like, you can certainly say " no gift is necessary, but if you insist, I know Susie Q is saving for college, etc."

"In lieu of gifts, donations to Jane's college fund are warmly appreciated." "For any who wishes to give a gift, Jane is saving up for a car." "Help Jane make her dream for a trip to Europe come true."
