Question by  Bill81 (98)

How much should I be able to bench press at age 13?

I weigh 91 lbs. I have one rep maxed 115 lbs 3 times before.

At the age of 13 years old my body weight was about 110 lbs, and my max in bench press was about 60 lbs, done with dumbells. In that period push ups were my only muscolar training at all. Boys under 14 years in my opinion have to train only bodyweight.

Thanks, my cousin was wanting to know how well he was doing in his lifting. He does not use dumbells though (you probably figured), he uses the barbell. But is that good for a 12(13) year old (born February 98), to be able to max bench 115 at 91 lbs?  add a comment

You should be able to bench press at least your body weight of you have a body that is in good shape. The only thing is that you have to be very careful not to strain your body or get hurt in another way in the process. What you are doing is just fine.

At your age (or any age), to measure strength, generally the standard is the ability to benchpress your own body weight once. The fact that you have done this (and more) and done reps of it, is very impressive. If you keep on that path, you will be very strong.
