If you buy the tools to do it yourself, it will cost about $7 or so. If you hire a locksmith they usually have a minimum charge for labor and etc, so bet on about $30-35, depending on where you live.

The cost is dependent on the type of lock being re-keyed, and the key needed. A large outdoor lock will be more than an indoor home lock.

Calling a professional locksmith can add to the expense of re-keying a door lock because you'll be paying a service call as well. Check for instructions to do this yourself.
