Back pain is common during pregnancy, however it should be more like back aches. It's normal to hurt on and off and here and there. Constant lower back pain may be signs of kidney infection, or it could even be the beginning stages of labor.

Depending on how far along you are your back pain can be mild to quite severe. This also depends on the position the baby is in as well. Many times a baby can position themselves more toward the back of your uterus causing immense back pain.

It really depends on your body, the way you are carrying the baby, and the baby's position - but some back pain is normal. Try taking a nice warm shower to alleviate some of the discomfort.

The farther along you are, the heaver the baby gets. As the baby gets bigger, it can put a huge strain on your back.
