Most PT programs are four years in duration. Check the type of PT job you want to obtain; some require a master's degree for best pay and assignments.

To become a physical therapist, one needs to earn a bachelor's degree (typically 4 years) and a graduate degree (which is typically 2 or 3 years).

To be accredited you need at least a master's level education, so about 7 years to get your license.

typically it takes six years of college work in total. The break-up is of 4 yrs of undegraduate studies and 3 yrs of graduate work to obtain a DPT (doctor of physical therapy). you can also obtain a MA but the DPT will soon be the norm.
